MASUTTI, Edda Augusta Masutti
She was born on April 26, 1942 in Pescolanciano, Isernia, Italy and passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in Vaughan, Ontario on February 18, 2026 surrounded by her children and grandchildren, listening to her favourite songs by Andrea Bocelli.
Edda was a devoted wife to Guido, wanting to help watch over him right up to her last days; daughter of Vincenzo and Carmela Altieri (predeceased); sister to Teresina (pd), Elena (pd), Armando (pd), Vincenzino (pd), Lucia (pd), and Michele.  Edda is eternally the loving mother of Lucia (Steve), Robert (Marisa) and Marco (Mackenzie) and loving Nonna to Stephanie, Natalie, Christopher, Nadia, Gabriel, Catherine, and Aaron.
Edda started as a seamstress in Italy and continued sewing when she immigrated to Canada with most of her family in 1958. She always spoke of the boat she came over on, having left Le Havre, France, and setting foot on Canadian soil at the Port of Quebec October 9, 1958. Edda met Guido in Etobicoke and were married on August 15, 1964, settling in on Gracedale Blvd in a small but comfortable semi-detached house. With a growing family, wanting more space, the family moved up to Caledon East on Walkers Rd, close to friends.  There were lean years, and Edda worked hard by cleaning houses, working as a seamstress, and finally working at the local market (Valencia Foods) behind the cheese and cold cuts counter, in addition to raising Lucy, Robert and Marco. Guido found a property in Woodbridge on Riverview Ave. in 1980 and built their family home where they lived for 45 years, filled with wonderful memories. Edda enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens and chatting outside with neighbours. In the spring of 2025 Edda and Guido moved to Sorrento Retirement Home where they found many new and old friends.
Edda devoted her life to her family, often thinking of everyone else before herself. She loved to see the family grow and reach milestones like baptisms, first communions, confirmations, marriages and births of her grandchildren. The happiness and well-being of her family and extended family meant everything to Edda. There was nothing Edda loved more than to have the house full of family for holiday gatherings and would always prepare her lasagna and pizza made from scratch even when her kids would tell her to rest and let them take care of everything. She enjoyed teaching her grandkids her pizza dough recipe and how to sew. Edda had a warm smile and a friendly personality that could fill a room, she liked to laugh and joke and made many friends wherever she went. She is deeply loved and missed by many.
Edda was laid to rest in a private ceremony on February 28 2026. The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Bethel Hospice or Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital in her memory.
The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the ICU nurses “Bella” Flora and Christina who went above and beyond for the comfort of Edda and her family members through Edda’s final days.
