MAXWELL, Glen Maxwell
December 21, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Glen Maxwell on December 21, 2025, at the age of 84. Son of George and Grace (Cooper), beloved husband of Marie for 63 years, devoted father of Lisa Wilson (Peter) and Christine Braley (Herb), cherished grandfather of Nicole, Lauren, Charles, and Christopher, predeceased by his siblings Larry, Gail (Stuart) and Bill. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Glen was born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario. He started work at an early age with a paper route and helping his father deliver milk for Silverwood Dairy. He would become quite the entrepreneur and a jack of all trades with positions all over the Niagara region at places like Provincial Paper, GM, Molson Brewery, Maple Leaf Village Park, and most notably in the ownership group of Sherkston Beaches. He also spent many years living and working in the U.S. at Lexus and Wyndam Vacation Properties before returning to Canada with Marie in recent years to be closer to family.
Glen gave a lot of his time to charity with organizations like the Jaycees, the annual NHL slo-pitch tournament, and there was always an annual turkey drive for families in need. His and Marie’s exceptional work ethic and appreciation for a job well done has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was proud of his family and always wanted updates on their progress as they started to move out of the region to North Carolina and Hamilton.
Glen was quick with numbers and always had a funny remark that would become the center point of many family discussions. This trait and Glen’s extraordinary stories would become legendary with his daughters and grandchildren. This was part of Glen’s way of giving advice. During his working years, he was well known in the community and his famous last words to his girls while they were looking for their first jobs was “tell them who you are”.
He loved antiquing, horses and helping his kids and grandkids learn about business and how to fix things. His early days at the paper mill made Glen an expert packer and wrapper. On his final day, he was looking forward to his annual gift-wrapping session for his grandkids’ Christmas gifts. Unfortunately, that was not to be…
Special thanks should be noted to his exceptional medical team, Dr. Jeremy Child of St. Catharines, Mark Lelievre at Boggios in Niagara Falls and the entire staff at Hotel Dieu Shaver Rehab and River Road Retirement.
In keeping with Glen’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main St., Niagara Falls, on Monday December 29, 2025, between 9:30am and 10:30am, followed by a funeral mass at St. Thomas More Church- 6548 Dorchester Rd, at 11am. Interment at Fairview Cemetery to follow. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital, or Diabetes Canada.
