With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Ken Black who left us on July 26th in his eighty-ninth year. Forever loved by his wife, Ruth (Service), their life together included 70 years of marriage, cottage trips, travel, time with friends and family, and an unbreakable bond.

A devoted father, Ken is forever loved by his four children and son-in-law: Lois, Debbie, Karen (Frank), and Ken Jr.

Cherished son of the late Max and Doris Black and beloved brother of Harvey Black (deceased), Doug (Lorraine) and Barb Job (Paul), he will be sorely missed.

Ken was a deeply devoted grandfather to Sonny Cardillo (Jodi), Tricia Cardillo (Derek), Tyler Black and Candace Black (Jay). He was a proud great-grandpa to Travis, Arlo and Archer. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, relatives and many friends.

Born in Oakville, Ken spent the majority of his life in Milton and Milton Heights. Talented and hard working, Ken ran his own carpentry and contracting business with his wife and son. Many homes in Milton may have experienced his workmanship over his 40 plus year career.

An avid gardener and fisherman (not too many got away!), Ken loved the cottage and being outdoors. In his retirement, he honed his wood carving skills creating  numerous wood sculptures for show and for pleasure. He enjoyed many hours with his woodcarving colleagues whom he cherished as valued friends. For years, he spent a couple of days each week solving the world’s problems with his ‘coffee buddies’ who were so very important to him, even more so than his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.

Those who knew Ken will remember his easy going manner, joking personality, light-hearted laugh, his positive outlook no matter the obstacle, and his constant and loyal devotion to family and friends.

In honouring Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
