MCCALLUM, Donald Don McCallum

Passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at 97 years of age. Reunited with his beloved wife Alta Faye (nee White) with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Loving father of the late David (2012) and Pauline McCallum, the late Virginia McCallum (1958), Cheryl and John Krabbenbos and Dianne and Barry Kemp. Adored grandpa of Julie and Jason Brooks, Danny and Kristen McCallum, Christine McCallum, Tim and Stephanie McCallum, Christa and Frank Bos, Nicole and Jamie Bailey, Jenna Cowell, Stephanie and Shaun Clarke,18 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Dearest brother of Peggy (2022), Catherine (2011) and husband Warren (2013), Elwood (1998) and wife Lucille (1971), Ila, Allen (2006), Archie and wife Shirley (2023), Richard and wife Louise. Brother-in-law of Mary Dietrich and Robert McLenon. He will also be remembered and missed by the entire White family, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A life-long resident of Gesto, Don farmed and also worked as a dedicated custodian with the Greater Essex County School Board for many years. The family would like to thank staff at Venvi Kingsville Retirement Living for the care given to Don over the last 4 years, and to the doctors and nurses at Erie Shores HealthCare for the care given in his final days.

Visitation will be held at Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Ave. E., Essex (519-776-4233) on Wednesday, September 3, 2025  from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at Reid Funeral Home, Essex on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11 am. Linda Blair officiating. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Oldcastle.
