With her precious family by her side, Nora Elsie McCaughrin of Morpeth passed away peacefully into her Lord’s arms at the age of 85. She left this world just as she desired—at home, overlooking her beautiful gardens and the beaches of Lake Erie.
Daughter of the late David and Dorothea Neill, and sister to the late Ted and Jim of Geraldton, Nora was a proud alumna of Alma College in St. Thomas. It was there she met the love of her life, the late Lee McCaughrin (2020), whom she married in 1959.
She was the cherished mother of the late Susan Douglas (2018) (Rick), and David (Barbara), and a beloved grandmother to Tricia (Alan), Spencer, Johnathan, and Amanda (Michael). Nora will always be remembered for her humour, her efficiency, her raisin bread, and famous “housechecker” cookies.
In earlier years, she enjoyed curling and singing with the “Sweet Adelines.” After Lee’s passing, she joined the Morpeth Heritage Club where she enjoyed shuffleboard, bus trips, and meaningful friendships. Nora and Lee are deeply missed by the “Lakeshore Gang” and many lifelong friends.
The family wishes to thank friends and caregivers, especially those from University Hospital, VON, Bayshore, and Neighbourly Care, for their compassionate care.
Family and friends will be received at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St, Dresden on Friday, June 13th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Dresden Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the reception hall at Badder Funeral Home.
Donations may be made in Nora’s memory to Christ Church, Dresden (cheque only).
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Badder Funeral Homes.
