MCCONNELL, Elda Jacqueline McConnell

Peacefully passed away at the FJ Davey Home on Monday, December 15, 2025 at the age of 85. Jackie was born in Belleville, Ontario in 1940 to Elda and Capt. John Watson where she spent her childhood years. In her early 20’s she moved to Chapleau to work with her older sister Joan Theriault. In 1963 she married David Neil McConnell in Chapleau. After several years she moved to Blind River to teach elementary school. In 1976 the family moved to Sault Ste. Marie where she worked in the main post office. Jackie is predeceased by her parents Capt. John and Elda Watson. She is predeceased by her family Sonny Watson, Joan Theriault, David Neil McConnell, Joyce Watson and is survived by Kevin Small, Shelley Ann Burgstaller (Peter), Alexander McConnell, Johanna Burgstaller, Thomas David Burgstaller, Bailey McConnell, Riley McConnell and Abbie McConnell. Jackie was a strong and generous and kind-hearted woman who enjoyed watching the Blue Jays in the trees and on the baseball field.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Jackie will be laid to rest at St. Luke’s Columbarium. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
