The world became a little less bright on the morning of August 11, 2025, with the unexpected yet peaceful passing of Peter Wallace McCormack. Born on May 10, 1940, in Windsor, Ontario, Peter’s infectious laughter and unending humor brought joy to everyone around him.
Peter was a devoted father to Peter Jr. (partner Sheila Stiers), Martina (partner The Honorable R. John Harper), Mark (wife Louise), and Jeffrey. Following his graduation from the RCEME school in Kingston, Ontario, in 1959, Peter was stationed in Soest, West Germany, at Fort Chambly. He earned his Special Service Medal with NATO bar in the early 1960s and was honored to serve twice on Queen Elizabeth II’s Honor Guard.
Peter spent the majority of his career in management with Chrysler Corporation, working at the Windsor and Mound Road Engine Plants, as well as Windsor Assembly. He was widely respected, managing with both precision and care. Beyond his professional achievements, Peter loved playing the piano and cherished time with his grandchildren—Julie, Allyssa (husband Ryan), and Joshua Demers.
In his later years, Peter resided at Aspen Lakes in Windsor, Ontario, where his quick wit and warmth brought smiles to residents and staff alike. He left his unique mark on the communities of Belle River and Tecumseh, sharing his humor and kindness wherever he went. Smile when you remember him.
