MCCORMICK, Margaret McCormick
December 9, 2025
Passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2025, three weeks shy of her 95th birthday, surrounded by her loving daughters, Linda, Peggy and Heather. Though her three sons, Ray, Bill and Allen, were not physically present, they were with her in spirit. Margaret is also survived by her son-in-law Alex and her daughters-in-law Sandy and Sue.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Budd McCormick, in 2001. We like to imagine they are now dancing to their special song, “Spanish Eyes”. Margaret has joined her parents, Edward and Jesse Craig, and her siblings in eternal rest. Her parents immigrated from the UK, and she was immensely proud of her father, Edward, who fought in World War I with the Canadian army and lost his life when she was only seven years old. Her mother, Jesse, bravely raised Margaret and her five siblings, Jack, Edward, Valentine, Isabel (Tootsie) and Harry – on her own.
She was immensely proud of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished them deeply. Margaret also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored her. She was blessed with enduring friendships and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. As the matriarch of our family, we will strive to uphold her traditions, especially Christmas gatherings.
Margaret will be fondly remembered for her Sunday roast beef dinners, a cherished family tradition. Her signature chocolate balls brought joy to everyone who tasted them. She found pleasure in playing bingo and enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas.
Margaret suffered a stroke on December 7, 2020, and despite the decline in her mobility, she remained strong and resilient. In the last three months we are grateful for the compassionate care provided by the Palliative Care team from Mount Sinai during their weekly visits to her home.
A Celebration of Life will be held after the holiday season in 2026. Details to follow.
