MCCREADY , Melanie Ann McCready
September 21, 1950 - July 26, 2025
With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Melanie Ann McCready on July 26, 2025, at the age of 74. A devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, Melanie’s warmth, strength, and sense of humor touched all who knew her.
Born on September 21, 1950, Melanie was the beloved daughter of the late Arnold and Olive Godin. She shared a deep bond with her siblings Mark (Theresa), Chris (Lisa), Rick, and Pat (Jeanette), and she is predeceased by her sisters Jane, Pamela, and Linda.
Melanie was the cherished wife of Frank McCready Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together they raised three children who brought her immense pride and joy: Shawn (Patty), Warren (Vicki), and Jennifer (Robert). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren Derek, Danielle, Michael, Dallas, Brianna, and Rijker, and her great-grandchildren Lexis and Kylee, all of whom she adored.
Melanie was also deeply connected to a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, whom she loved dearly and who loved her just as deeply in return.
Melanie had a vibrant spirit and a heart full of love. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—camping with her family, collecting Betty Boop memorabilia, admiring classic cars, and cherishing memories of her time living in California. But above all, she loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Her laughter, wisdom, and gentle presence will be missed more than words can say.
The family wishes to thank all those who offered support and kindness during this time. In keeping with Melanie’s wishes, she has been cremated, and there will be no formal funeral service. The family will honor her memory privately and encourage those who knew her to remember Melanie in their own way—with love, laughter, and cherished memories. A celebration of Melanie’s life will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Melanie’s memory to Lincoln Country Humane Society or The Heart & Stroke Foundation and can be made through the funeral home.
