MCDIARMID, Kenneth Bruce Hepburn McDiarmid
April 29, 1934 - February 25, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth (Bruce) Hepburn McDiarmid in his 92nd year. Husband of the late Roxanne McDiarmid. Devoted and loved father to Kirk McDiarmid (deceased), Jennifer AyoHe (Andy) and Karen McDiarmid (deceased). Cherished Grandpa to Michael (Laura) and Stephanie. Loved GG to Elise and Claire. Dear friend and companion to Gail McDonald. Predeceased by his parents Olive and Clifford McDiarmid. Brother-in-law to Adrianne Taylor (Barry) and Uncle to Steve (Val), Lisa (Murray) and Jonathan (Sandy). Bruce will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends.
Bruce was born and raised in Toronto. He attended Armour Heights P.S. (where he met Roxanne) and Earl Haig S.S. Bruce had many different careers which included being a member of the RCMP. He excelled at sales and spent a large portion of his working years selling cars, Honda motorcycles and pagers (10 years with Maclean-Hunter Communications). Bruce was the ultimate entrepreneur. He owned and operated many businesses including BruMac Enterprises, McD’s Billiards and Recreation Club and Boats-U-Drive. He was most proud of McD’s.
Bruce loved car racing and boats. He and Roxanne were avid sailors and travellers. Their journeys included world travel on planes, trains and automobiles but mainly sailing their boat in Ontario, as well as extensive ocean cruises. His most memorable was sailing their 34’ boat to the Bahamas for 2 years. When Bruce was not travelling, he loved to be with his family, being on a boat or near a lake, spending Time with one of his many dogs, enjoying friends & social gatherings, listening to music, reading extensively and staying informed on current affairs and sports.
Bruce had an incredible sense of humour, a deep love for his family, and was a dear friend to many. He always made everyone smile. We will never forget the limericks and stories he shared. He touched all of us differently and in his own special way. He will be forever missed.
Special thanks to PSW Shelley, VIVA staff and friends, Lakeridge Health Ajax staff and doctors.
