MCENENY, Wesley David McEneny
December 27, 2025
With love and sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Wesley on December 27, 2025 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (July 27, 2025), for 67 years, cherished father of Elgin (Linda), Don (Cindy), and Jim (Liz). Loving and devoted grandfather to his grandchildren Samantha (Ashley), Alanna (Scott), Mitchell (Kelsey), Calvin (Alana), Evan (Sydney), and Trevor (Tori). Great grandfather to Russell, Mallory, Henry, and Lorelai. Wes will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family here in Canada, United States, and Northern Ireland.
Wesley grew up in Hannahβs Row, Comber, County Down Northern Ireland, the middle of 10 children. In 1954, Wes packed up his tools and moved to Canada. He worked as a carpenter in the Hamilton area for Ira McDonald, who, at the time, was boarding a young Dorothy McMillan while she trained to become a nurse. Wesley and Dorothy met, fell in love, and were married in 1957. Together they raised their family in Winona, where Wes began a successful business building many wonderful custom pieces, places and spaces.
Wes was a gentle soul, and a man of few words who cared deeply for his family and provided them a great life. Wes and Dot enjoyed a good game of cards with their many friends and they also enjoyed touring through Canada and the USA as well as several trips to Europe. Wesley and Dorothy were long and faithful members of Fifty United Church in Winona.
Wesβ family would like to acknowledge the kindness and care Dad received at Grandview Retirement Home over the last few years, and at Hamilton General Hospital in his final days.
Family and friends will be received at SMITHβS FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) Stoney Creek (905-664-4222) on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, 6pm β 9pm. Funeral Service to be held at Fifty United Church, 1455 Highway #8, Stoney Creek on Saturday, January 3RD , 2026, at 11 am. Private family interment will take place at Mountview Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
