Margaret “Peggy” McKercher (nee MacIntosh) passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at the remarkable age of 99. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Heather, her son Ross, her granddaughter Annie (Antoine), and her nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim, and her brother Charles (Liverpool, N.S.).

Peggy was born to Abraham and Lina MacIntosh in Cap La Ronde on Cape Breton Island and grew up with her brother Charlie in Port Hawkesbury. A proud graduate of Acadia University, Peggy pursued a fulfilling career as a dietitian, working in Halifax, Montreal, and London. It was in London where she met the love of her life, Jim. They settled in Barrie in 1960 and built a warm and loving home where they raised their family. Peggy’s kitchen was filled with the aroma of fresh-baked goods, and their home was always lively with the constant traffic of friends and family, filled with cheerfulness and laughter.

Peggy will always be remembered for her warm, gentle, and loving spirit. Her selflessness and quiet acts of kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. In her honor, her family encourages others to reach out to someone in need and offer your time and friendship, reflecting Peggy’s legacy of kindness and compassion.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.
