The family of Helen Martha McLaren ( nee Greer ), announces her peaceful passing at Traditions of Durham Retirement Home on Saturday, July 26th 2025 in her 97th year.

Helen’s family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the management, nurses, personal support workers, and all supportive staff of Traditions of Durham. Their care and compassion was truly a channel of peace for our mother.

Helen will be reunited in heaven with her husband Lawrence. Helen was the loving mother of Robin (Geri), Jill,( Graham) & Jan (Gord).She will be missed by her grandchildren, Timothy, Daniel, Mariah, Paul & Kathy. She was proud to be the great grandmother to Austin, Liam and Jase.

Helen will be remembered as a champion of Community Support Agencies. She devoted over twenty- five years to charitable work for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society ( St. Joseph The Worker Parish, Oshawa ), the Catholic Women’s League, coaching the Blind/Visually Impaired, to enjoy Lane and Lawn bowling, organizing Meals On Wheels routes, and managing a clothing store with her husband at the Ontario Hospital in Whitby. Those who knew Helen, enjoyed her sense of having fun with friends and family, dancing, playing cards, golfing, and lawn bowling for teams both in Oshawa and Florida.

Family will receive friends at Oshawa Funeral Home, for visitation on Thursday July 31, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph the Worker church on Friday August 1, 2025 at 10:30 am (1100 Mary Street North, Oshawa)

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society ( St. Joseph The Worker Parish, Oshawa ON.) Would be appreciated.
