MCLATCHIE, Evelyn Lilian McLatchie

She was born in Edmonton, London, England in 1933 and passed away peacefully at home at the age of 92 on October 22, 2025. Eve was pre-deceased by Robert, her husband of 59 years, her brother Victor and sister Iris. She leaves behind her sister Violet who visited her in Vancouver many times. She is survived by her three children Jill, Richard and David and four granddaughters Amy, Kirsten, Emma and Jensen.

During WWII, Eve was evacuated to the safety of the countryside to avoid the bombs falling on London. She never forgot the kindness of her surrogate family.

Eve worked as a bookkeeper in England before she married Bob in 1963. With 3 children in tow, they moved to Canada in 1967 and lived in Sault Saint Marie, Quebec for a year, and then spent another year in Seattle WA. The family then moved to West Vancouver and bought their house in 1972. She happily lived in that house for the rest of her life.

Eve started the family business (West Van Plumbing) with Bob in 1972 and kept the books with meticulous accuracy. She worked as the bookkeeper for the company for 45 years, which she credited for keeping her mind sharp.

She loved dancing, darts, gardening, traveling to sunny destinations and walking on the sea wall.

The family would like to thank everyone who cared for her with warmth and compassion in the last few months of her life. She smiled and had a laugh every day.

A celebration of life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Home (Boal Chapel) in North Vancouver on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 2pm.
