MCLEAN, Jean McLean
April 10, 1945 - December 20, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jean McLean at Hillsdale Estates, following a brief illness. Jean was a remarkable woman, cherished by her family, adored by her friends, and will be missed immeasurably by all who were fortunate to know and love her.
Jean was the beloved wife of Ian McLean, with whom she shared 60 years of life; Ian is left with a broken heart. She was a loving sister to Margaret Short, sister-in-law to the late George Short, and treasured sister-in-law and friend to Frances McLean and the late Gilmour (Gilly) McLean. Her nieces, nephews and cousins held a special place in her heart.
Above all, Jean’s children were the joy and pride of her life. She was a devoted mother to her three sons, Scott (Leslie), Russell (Jenny), and Alan (Liz), and a cherished Gran to Evan, Cullen, Aeden, Ceara, Jacob, Nolan, Ethan, Bennett, Callum and Mya. Every moment spent with them, whether it be cheering them on at games, celebrating milestones, or simply sharing time together brought her immense happiness. They were the heart of her days, and her absence will be felt deeply by each of them.
Born on April 10, 1945, in Glasgow, Scotland, Jean carried the pride of her Scottish heritage with grace, warmth, and radiance. To her friends, Jean was a loyal and caring presence. Her warmth, humour and loving spirit will forever be cherished.
She held close the bonds she shared with the ‘Squash girls’ and the ‘Scottish ladies’, relationships that brought warmth, laughter, and companionship to her life. She also enjoyed golf and squash and it was important to her to remain active. She never missed an opportunity to share the story of her two hole-in-ones.
Jean’s life was defined by her vibrance, energy, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel seen, valued, and supported. Her love and warmth will continue to resonate in the lives she touched. She will be missed beyond words, and her memory will remain forever in our hearts as a source of comfort, and a testament to a life lived with extraordinary love.
A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME
