MCMILLAN, Patricia Doreen Mcmillan
July 26, 1936 - January 1, 2026
It is with immense love and sadness that we announce Patricia Doreen McMillan went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2026, at the age of 89.
Patricia Doreen Smailes began her life in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on July 26, 1936, and was devoted to her mother Madge for her first decade. Madge provided a stable foundation of fun and faith to Pat and her siblings Phyllis, Gerry, and Don as their father was away fighting in World War II. Devastation … with a little bundle of joy … followed as they lost their mother when their little sister Lynn was born. After that, Pat and her siblings were forced to make their way in the world and support one another. They became hardworking and resilient during life’s challenges, leaning on the example their mother had set … and gained 8 more siblings when their father John remarried.
Pat put herself through training and became a Registered Nurse before attending Central Pentecostal Bible College where she met her husband, Don McMillan. They courted for two years before marrying, and Pat went to work in Kenora & Saskatoon hospitals until they started ministry together. As Pat and Don began pastoring churches across Canada, their children Debbie and Dean were born.
Sharp-witted and genuinely funny, Pat had a way of making people feel at ease, and her kindness and thoughtfulness made her a treasured friend to many. Pat embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm, whether she was travelling, lost in a good book, working through a puzzle, or enjoying time on the golf course with Don—although their marriage was saved by not keeping score! Above all else, Pat loved her family deeply, and they were the centre of her world.
Left to treasure her memory are those she loved most: Don, her husband of 63 years, children Debbie and Dean; grandchildren Alisha, Brian, Chanelle, Steve, and Moriah; and great-grandchildren Rae, James, Awson, and Addie; and siblings Don, Lynn, Laurie, Gail, Graham, Brent, Kim, Mark, and Jackie.
Pat has now joined her brother Gerry and sisters Phyllis and Carol who passed before her.
She will be missed beyond words and always remembered for her warmth, humour, and steadfast love.
