MCPHERSON , Ian Kidd McPherson
September 13, 1929 - August 7, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and immeasurable love that we announce the passing of our beloved Papa (Ian McPherson), a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully surrounded by family.
Papa’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was the heart of every gathering, the warmest hug at the door, and the loudest cheer in the stands. His love was constant, unconditional, and unwavering — a gift he gave freely to each of us.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: casting a fishing line, sitting by a bonfire, setting out on new adventures while traveling, and spending his summers at the cottage, where countless cherished memories were made. Those moments, filled with laughter, stories, and many unplanned dips in the St. Lawrence River will be etched in our hearts forever.
Papa had a way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and believed in. Whether cheering us on from the sidelines or lifting our spirits in hard times, he was our biggest supporter and greatest example of kindness and strength.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family — one that will live on in the lives of all who were lucky enough to know him. Papa is survived by his loving wife Jean, his sons Ian (Terri) and Gary (Karen), his grandchildren Kelsey (Phil), Kaitlin (Peter), Cameron (Madison), Keenan (Allison), and his great-grandchildren Kenley, Ainsley, Thomas, Samuel, Ryder, and Abigail.
The family would like to thank all of the amazing staff at the Cornwall Community Hospital, Woodlands Villa, and Reverend Lois Gaudet for her kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly request any donations to be made to the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation. Copy this link into your browser to make a donation: www.cornwallhospitalfoundation.ca
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort knowing he is at peace and will carry his love with us always.
We will miss you, Papa, more than words can say.
