MCPHERSON, Merlin Alethia McPherson

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Merlin Alethia McPherson, the rock and foundation of our family.

Merlin was born in 1929, in Dias, Hanover, Jamaica, and was the last remaining survivor of her 10 siblings. Her beloved sisters and brothers included Louise  Haughton, Iris Moore, May Brown, Eutis Dixon, Joyce Hawksworth, Austin Brown, Renford Brown, Algie Brown, Neil Brown and Noel Brown.

She is pre-deceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Justin McPherson who passed October 29, 2009.

Merlin was a seamstress by trade, however was most proud and fulfilled by her role as mother and homemaker. Anyone who ever had the pleasure of enjoying one of Merlin’s home cooked meals knows what an exceptional cook she was, particularly when she was entertaining friends and family  Cooking was her love language.

She was an incredibly proud and loving mother of Robert McPherson (Suzanne), Paulette McPherson, Beverley Devries (Wietze), Edwina McPherson (Clyde), Clifton McPherson (Lois) and Sherine Bandoo (Clint).

She will be sadly missed by her many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.A special thank you to the staff at The Colonial and Hillsdale Estates, where Merlin was lovingly cared for in her final years.

We will be giving Merlin a glorious send off on Saturday, May 17^th at 2:30pm. at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (North of Hwy 2) 647-372-2279 with visitation at 1:30 pm. Interment Mount Lawn Cemetery.
