MCSWEENEY, Joseph McSweeney

Passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital at the age of 76. Survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Maureen née Welch. They were high school sweethearts who many knew as “Moe & Joe.” Lovingly remembered by their children Trevor (Lindsay), Kristy (Andrew), and Melissa (Steve). Proud Grandpa to Maya (Sam), Kiera, Eli, Madeleine, and Gage. Predeceased by his loving parents Al & Geraldine née Dunn McSweeney, and close sibling of Theresa (Jim), Pat (Judy), Brian (Cathy), and Darlene (Joe). He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A proud Hamiltonian, Joe worked at Dofasco for 44 years as a scheduler for the hot mill. Joe was a family man who loved his down time with his grandkids, reading, watching sports, and enjoying retirement with his wife.

Cremation has taken place. Visitors will be received at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave, (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Thursday February 12, 2026, from 1:00pm-2:00pm with a service to follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00pm.
