MCVETY, Valetta Madeline McVety

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on December 24, 2025, in her 99th year. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Jack Robert McVety, who predeceased her in 2010 after 63 years of marriage.

Valetta was born in Roseneath, Ontario and moved to Oshawa, Ontario to start and raise her family.

Valetta was a devoted mother to Paul (Heather), Lisa (Francis), and Mark (Suzanne). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Megan (Robin), the late Tyler, Josh, Jason (Katie), Ethan (Candace), Brandon (Jessica), Jenna (Kenton), and Jessica (Colin).

She was a cherished Great Grandma — lovingly known as “Baby Grandma” — to Libby, Gavin, Garnet, Eric, Madeleine, Emma, Jasper, Liam, Charlotte, Olivia, Lily, Jackson, and Jack; a treasured Great-Great Grandma to baby Ivy.

Valetta is predeceased by her siblings Ivan Thackeray, Golda Beedham, Alan Thackeray, Mavis Bull and Blair Thackeray.

Valetta will be remembered for her quiet strength, deep love for her family, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her legacy lives on through the many generations she helped shape and the love she shared so freely.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family would like to thank the staff of Extendicare Oshawa for providing excellent care during her final years.

Internment will take place in the spring at Ebenezer United Church in Courtice.
