MELCHERS, Gwen Smith nee Melchers

With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of Gwen Smith Melchers on December 19, 2025, at the age of 67. Gwen was the beloved widow of Bill Smith, a devoted mother to her two sons Will and Chris, grandmother to Cassity and proud great-grandmother to two beautiful great-granddaughters Myah and Ava who were the joy of her life.
Gwen’s life was defined by love and compassion. She had a gift for caring for others, which shone through in her work as a Companion with Sweater gang Companions. Her kindness touched countless lives, and her gentle spirit brought comfort to everyone around her. Family was always her greatest passion—every moment spent with her loved ones was treasured, and her great-granddaughters held a special place in her heart.

Those who knew Gwen will remember her generous heart, and the way she made everyone feel valued and loved. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Visitation to honour Gwen’s life will be held at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Family and friends are welcome to join in honoring her memory.
