MELE, Lina Mele

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Lina Mele, surrounded by her family at the age of 99. Now lovingly reunited in heaven with her dear husband Saverio (2018). Born in Ferentino, Italy to her parents the late Giusseppe and Yolanda Cantagallo. Preceded in death by her in-laws Luigi and Angela Mele, and brother Dominic (Carol) Cantagallo.
Survived by her children Louie (Deborah) Mele, Joseph (the late Roseanne) Mele (Mariola Pukeca), Angela (Pat) Stephens, Nancy (Tony) Pizzo, and Ida (Paul) Larocque. Cherished Nonna to Christy (Patrick), Jeremy (Maureen), Martina (Mike), Jessica (Joe), Jeff (Maria), Chris (Reem), Vanessa (Alex), Dana, Jillian (Michele), Samantha, and Lauren. Loving Bis Nonna to Gabriel, Sarah (Cody), Matthew, Giovanni, Leonardo, Maximo, Marcello, Marco, Mattias, Anthony, Milana, Alessio, Alessio, and Talia.
Dear sister in law to Rosa Mele and Antonio Pignanelli. Predeceased by her siblings in law Maria (Salvatore) Bonasso, Isabella (Frank) Sciarrotta, Giovanni (Catarina) Mele, Guiseppe Mele, and Albina Pignanelli.
Lina will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family both in Canada as well as Italy and the USA.
Special thank you to the staff at Chateau Park Long Term Care, there are too many to mention but your compassionate care over the last 10 years has not gone unnoticed and was truly appreciated.
Lina’s life was a tapestry built upon family, food and flowers. When not tending to her incredible gardens she could be found cooking or baking away for all her family and friends. Lina’s legacy leaves an imprint upon her family that can never be forgotten. She was deeply loved and will be forever cherished.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 4th from 4pm – 8pm at Families First – South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave, 519 969 5841). On Friday December 5th friends and family are welcome at St. Angela Merici Church for a funeral mass at 11am. Procession to Heavenly Rest Cemetery to follow.
