MENCARELLI, Eugenio Mencarelli

MENCARELLI, Eugenio Mencarelli

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our strong and loving father and Nonno, Eugenio Mario Mencarelli, on November 9th, 2025.

Adored husband of the late Marisa (Borrelli), with whom he shared many wonderful years together.

Loving and treasured father of Dean Mencarelli and his loving wife Colleen, and Christine Sobhi and her kind husband John. Adored Nonno and best friend to his โ€œlittle manโ€ Stavro, with whom he shared a special bond and countless special memories with, and to Charlotte, who held a special place in his heart.

Devoted son of the late Aldo and Lena Mencarelli. Loving son-in-law of the late Santo and Vera Borrelli. Dear brother of Rena Wilkins (and the late Ron) and the late Joseph Mencarelli. Loving brother-in-law of Andria and Gino Iannetta, Valentino and Sonia Borrelli, and the late Osvaldo Borrelli. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and Italy also survive.

Eugenio was born in Bellocchi, Italy, and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 11. He began working alongside his father at that young age, bricklaying for the family company Crown Construction. He later became the proud owner of Erie Billiards with his father and brother, where he was known asย โ€œThe King.โ€ย There would often be lines down the street of people hoping to beat him, but few ever could.

He received a scholarship to W.O.I.T. (now St. Clair College) and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. Eugenio went on to work at the University of Windsor for 30 years in the Media Center, where he served as a lab instructor, producer ofย 401 Sunset, and contributor toย Crime Stoppers Windsor. After retirement, Eugenio opened Royal Flush Pawn Brokers for several years. He later developed property in LaSalle, where the street was named in his honour, Mencarelli Drive.

Despite his many health challenges, nothing ever stopped Eugenio from devoting his life to his family. He continued to live fully and with purpose, taking his loved ones on countless trips to Italy creating memories that will last a lifetime. He was highly intelligent and could do just about anything he set his mind to. When asked how he knew so much, he would simply smile and say,ย โ€œCommon sense.โ€

He also loved his garden, horses, had a deep passion for the stock market and making his famous pasta sauce.

Above all, Eugenioโ€™s greatest love was his family. He married his best friend, and the love they shared was one that could only be dreamed about. He adored his two children more than anything in the world, but his grandchildren were truly the light of his life.

There was no man stronger, smarter, or with a more genuine heart. He was our hero, our teacher, and our constant support. He is now reunited with his beautiful Marisa, whom he missed so deeply. We are left with an emptiness that cannot be filled.ย  His strength, love, and wisdom will live on through his children and grandchildren, guiding us forever.

โ€œWake Up, Look Up & Never Give Upโ€

The family plans to honour Eugenio in a special way at Windsor Regional Hospital โ€“ Metropolitan Campus in the future. In the meantime, charitable donations may be made in his honour to Christine Mencarelli-Sobhi.
