MENEGOZZO, Marisa Menegozzo

September 8, 1942 - October 11, 2025
MENEGOZZO, Marisa Menegozzo

passed away peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on October 11, 2025. By her side were her loving son Richard and good friend, Karla Krane.

Marisa’s husband Lewis predeceased her on August 1, 2005. She left behind her loving son Richard, family in Alberta, Italy and around the world, and friends who loved and adored her.

Marisa was born in Cornuda, Italy on September 8, 1942. She met Lewis in Italy while he was on vacation visiting relatives. They fell in love. Lewis was born and lived in Alberta, and he did not speak Italian at that time. Apparently, he had to get his cousin to ask Marisa to marry him. It did not seem to bother Marisa as she said yes and emigrated to Canada. Marisa arrived in Canada in September 1967 and she and Lewis were married on October 23, 1967, in Calgary, Alberta. Richard was born in Calgary two years later, on November 10, 1969.

The family lived in Calgary and then in Warner, Alberta, where Marisa and Lewis operated a grocery store. Richard helped in the store as he was growing up. In 1985, the family decided it was time for a change and moved to Victoria. They rented the home at 780 Helvetia Crescent for three years and then they purchased the home in early 1988. It was Marisa’s home for the remainder of her life.

Marisa was a wonderful friend to many, a good neighbour and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Marisa was one of those rare people who never owned a cell phone or a computer, but she still managed to keep in touch with everyone.

Marisa loved her home and the many flowering plants she had dispersed both inside and outside the house. She especially loved orchids, which always seemed to bloom for her. She could take a small cutting of a scrappy looking bush and before long that twig had become a beautiful flowering shrub. That was part of her magic. And her love of all four-legged creatures always stopping to admire puppy dogs of every age and size no matter where she was. In fact, she loved and appreciated all living creatures. A few short hours before she passed, she asked that the birdbath water be replaced with fresh water and to be sure that the birds had suet. And that was our precious Marisa.

We thank the Saanich Peninsula Hospital staff for their kind, compassionate care.

A viewing will be held at 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025, in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive. Marisa will then be cremated and there will be a graveside service in May 2026.
