With broken hearts we announce the passing of Carmela Mercuri in Hamilton, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in her 93rd year. Loving and devoted wife to her husband Nicola for 70 years. Beloved mother of Antonio (Carla) and Vince (Laura). Treasured Nonna of Jason (Jill), Nick (Juhi), Gabriel (Katarina) and Giuliana, and cherished Bisnonna of Hudson, Everett, Wesley, Phoenix and Miles. Dear sister to the late Diodoro (Gina) Ciaramella, Antonietta (late Salvatore) Dieso, Giovanna (Fernando) Tomassetti and Barbara (Pasquale) Gravina. Carmela will also be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially next-door neighbors Laurie and Gary.

Carmela took care of Nicola and the whole Mercuri family with great love and affection. She was an “authentic” Nonna. She “loved” tending to her garden and creating wonderful meals for family gatherings. She was a cancer survivor and our “warrior” until the end.

Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers at 4:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10:00 am. Entombment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek, followed by a light Reception at the Croatian Sports & Community Centre, 166 Green Mountain Road East, Stoney Creek. If desired, memorial contributions to Canadian Cancer Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
