MERTIN, Herta MERTIN

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our mother Herta Mertin. Mom passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 14th at WRHN@Queens Blvd. Hospital in Kitchener. She shared a loving 57 year marriage with her late husband Eduard Mertin.Loving mother of Oswald (Gracia) and Harold (Deb) and she was Oma to four granddaughters, Natalie (Brian) Peruzzo, Caitlin, Adrienne (Russ) Himes and Lauren (Garrett) Clark. She was also a great Oma to Liam, Sadie, Chase, Wesley and Ivy. Herta was also a special friend to Hugo Hintz.Our parents immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1953 and resided in New Hamburg for all those years. Mom worked for many years at the Hahn Brass. Our mother loved making friends.Special thanks to the kind staff of WRHN who cared for her in her final hours and to all the staff at The Village of Winston Park, where she resided for the last two years.

The funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments to follow the service.

Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Herta’s memory can be made to the WRHN Hospital Foundation or Emmanuel Lutheran Church and can be done through the funeral home.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg, and personal condolences can be posted for Herta’s family at www.markjutzifuneralhomes.ca
