MICHENER, Marenah Michener
January 27, 2026
Passed away peacefully at the Village on the Ridge on January 27, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born in Oil Springs, Marenah was the beloved daughter of Leo Hartford and Evangeline Owen.
She was the devoted wife of Mervin Michener for 70 years. Following Mervin’s passing on January 6, 2026, Marenah is now reunited with her husband – together again after a lifetime of love and partnership.
Marenah was a loving mother to her daughter Connie (Erwin) Wood and her son Mark (Debbie) Michener. She was a cherished grandmother to Nathan, Natalie, Bruce, and Timothy, and a proud great-grandmother to Gavin, Silas, Ezekiel, Maverick, Johanna, Josie, Sydney, and Rorik.
She is survived by her sister, Leona Rozell, and her sister-in-law, Lillian Hartford. Marenah was predeceased by sister Beulah, and brothers Bryon, Orland and Wayne.
As the wife of a Canadian military man, Marenah lived a life shaped by service and adventure. She travelled widely and made homes in many places, including across Canada, Russia, France, Germany, Washington, D.C and Florida. Wherever she lived, Marenah warmly welcomed others, especially fellow service families, offering hospitality, kindness, and a steady presence. She returned home to Ridgetown with Mervin 5 years ago.
Marenah worked as a telephone operator in Canada, at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, and in a hospital in Florida. Known for her gentle nature and caring heart, she made lasting friendships everywhere she went and left a quiet but meaningful impact on the lives she touched.
A joint celebration of life for Marenah and her husband, Mervin Michener, will be held in the spring. Details will be announced at a later date.
