MILLS, Cemie Ida Lee Mills

In Loving Memory

Cemie Ida Lee Mills, affectionately called Ida, was born on October 16, 1967, to parents David and Agatha Wright. Ida’s story began in a small but close-knit community called Richmond Park in Clarendon, Jamaica. As the firstborn of seven children, she carried the responsibility and pride of being the eldest, setting an example for her siblings—Dawn, Maislyn, Micheal, Rose, Sophia, and Annmarie. She showed them what it meant to care, love, and lead.

In her own family, Ida was the proud mother of four wonderful children. Each one of them carries a piece of her—her compassion, generosity, and unbreakable spirit. Though one of her children, Danisha Mills, left this world too soon, her heart always held them close. The love she shared with her children was immeasurable, and she worked tirelessly to provide for them, ensuring they knew they were loved and supported.

For many years, Ida worked as a domestic worker. It was a job that demanded great strength, patience, and humility—and she approached it with quiet dignity and a smile that could light up any room. Her infectious smile became a hallmark of who she was, radiating warmth and kindness, making everyone around her feel valued. In the hardest of times, she remained resilient, finding joy in small moments, in the company of her loved ones, and in knowing that she made a difference in the lives of those around her.

Today, as we say goodbye, let us remember not just the sadness of her passing, but the fullness of her life. We will remember the laughter she brought, the love she shared, and the strength she embodied. We will carry her memory with us, knowing that in her heart, she always wanted the best for those she loved.

Ida leaves behind her three children: Sophia, Anisha (Roxan), and Chevon; her granddaughter, Jenay; her six siblings: Dawn, Maislyn, Micheal, Rose, Sophia, and Annmarie; along with nephews, nieces, and a host of other family members.

Rest in peace, Ida. You will never be forgotten, and your light will continue to shine through your children, your family, and all the lives you touched. You have earned your rest, and we will hold you close forever.
