MITCHELL, George Nathan Mitchell

It is with a heavy heart we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of George Mitchell on September 20, 2025, in his 69th year.  George was a gentle, caring, loving, generous soul with a dry sense of humour.  If you were lucky enough to be called his friend, you know you had a friend for life.  George served in the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve (Land) Division and worked in Security for 36 years.  He had a love of hockey and baseball and was a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays.  George is predeceased by his father, George W.H. Mitchell, and sister, Sandra Flintoff, and survived by his loving mother Anna, sisters Wendy Kennedy (Harvey), Gail Hoskin, Brenda Kloostra (Simon), brother Tony Mitchell (Nicolette), as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the first responders and Durham Region Police that were so respectful, compassionate and understanding in our time of need.  A special thank you to Kate and Cody for the “true friendship” they showed George.  He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.  May you peacefully rest, George.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).  A private family service to follow at a later date.  Donations in memory of George to Kedron United Church would be appreciated.  Online condolences may be shared at makfuneralhome.com
