MONK, Karen Frances Monk
April 12, 1949 - December 4, 2025
Karen passed suddenly at home in the evening of Thursday December 4, surrounded by her family and the amazing paramedic team who came to help her.
A genuinely kind and patient person, Karen was a natural and gifted teacher, mother and partner. She was a steadfast friend, a creative quilter and a lover of nature and animals.
She adored children, taking a break from her kindergarten teaching career to raise her own son and daughter for which they will be forever grateful. A wise and perceptive teacher she helped class after class get a good start in life.
Whenever the Ontario weather permitted she loved gardening and being in nature especially visiting the east coast of Canada. Karen had a huge heart and never said no to the stray animals and friends her children brought home. She loved and cared for countless dogs cats and horses. Taking up horseback riding late in life surprised everyone and her barn family misses her dearly.
A lifelong passion for quilting formed another circle of friends. Karen made and gave away numerous beautiful quilts to friends and strangers who needed a blanket hug.
Karen’s passing leaves a huge hole in her family and community, we will miss her every day.

When Trees are purchased as a memorial tribute; our forestry partners work with their networks of
planting partners throughout North America and trees are planted wherever reforestation is needed most at that time.
We leave it up to our forestry experts and planting partners to decide where the needs are.
Also, the type of tree that is planted will vary by planting region.
Our planting partners decide what appropriately grows in the region, and what is best for the
environment and maintenance of the area.
