George William Moore, of Peterborough, Ontario, in his 79th year, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on June 14th. George fought hard until the very end. Through various health struggles, he toughed it out—never complaining, losing his smile or sense of humor, or devotion to his family.

He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqalene Moore, and cherished father to Penny (Joe) and Sherry. He was a devoted grandpa to his best buds Joe (Tricia), Josh (Autumn), and Tamara (Matt), and an adored great grandpa to Owen, Hudson, Iris, and Stella.

George is predeceased by his parents Ralph Moore and Eva Burfield, and six of his siblings: David, Jimmy, Beverly, Diane, Janet, Terry, and David. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Donald (Kathy), Doug, Nancy (Will), Carol, Ralph, and Wayne (Lavena).

He will be dearly missed by all of these loved ones along with many other extended family members and friends. George loved his many years as a stalwart season ticket holder of the Peterborough Petes and Peterborough Lakers, rarely missing a game and watching many a Mann Cup celebration.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sports—but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always prepared to spoil them and never without a candy bar to slip into their pocket!

George will always be remembered for his love of family, his willingness to lend a hand, and his loyalty to those he cared for most.

Please join the family on July 26, 2025, from 2:00–4:00pm at the Peterborough Legion located at 1550 Lansdowne St. W., Peterborough, for a celebration of George’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
