MOUNTENAY, Bob Mountenay

Robert Gerald Alexander Mountenay (“Bob”), passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in his 87th year of life. Surrounded by family in his final days, he leaves behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and quick wit. Bob was the heart of his family and a steady presence in the lives of those who knew him.

Bob was a proud and dedicated member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA Local 403), where he worked as a pipe fitter for over 50 years. He took great pride in his trade and the friendships formed over a lifetime of hard work and union brotherhood.

From a young age, Bob had a passion for music and motorcycles. He got his first bike as a teenager and never looked back. Riding remained one of his greatest joys throughout his life. His love of classic tunes and a good ride became part of the legacy he passed down to his family.

He was a loving father to Paul (Denise), Karen (Dwight), Robin, and pre-deceased by his son Tom (Denise); a proud grandfather to Christopher, Charity, Brandon, Jessica, Shawn Paul, and Nicholas; and a cherished great-grandfather to Sophia, Violet, Everett, Venessa, Hunter, Claire, Gracelyn, Spencer, Nolan, Madelyn, and Rylin. Bob was also a devoted brother to Jeanette and a fondly loved uncle and great-uncle to her children and grandchildren.

His presence, humor, and gentle wisdom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Family and friends will be received at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (North of Hwy 2) 647-372-2279 for a graveside service on Saturday, May 17, at 10 am (gather in parking lot for 9:45 am).

A Celebration of Bob’s life will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, 471 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa at 11:30 am.
