Lucia Murano (née Fiorentino) passed away peacefully into the hands of God on April 17, 2025, surrounded by family and friends at Kingston General Hospital.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Raffaele, her dear parents Natalina and Giacinto Fiorentino, and mother-in-law Rosina Murano. Lucy is lovingly remembered by her sister Teresa, parents-in-law Pat Murano and Linda McCutcheon, and extended family and friends in Italy and Canada.
Though small in stature, Lucy’s generosity of spirit was immense. She was active in the Italo-Canadian Club, proudly embracing her heritage through Italian cooking, baking, and her traditional Fall bottling of pasta sauce. She was also known for her sense of fun, famously hosting 4:30 a.m. High Tea gatherings to watch Royal Weddings—complete with fascinators.
A dedicated employee of Correctional Service Canada, Lucy was deeply respected and loved by her colleagues. She carried a strong Catholic faith and bravely fought illness in recent years. When God called, she was ready.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joshua Durbin, Dr. Bailey Dyck, and the exceptional care teams at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Visitation will be held at James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston) on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the James Reid Reception Centre.
Donations in Lucia’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada, Scleroderma Canada, or United Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) – KGH Cardiology.
