Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Beryl immigrated to Scarborough, Ontario with Richard in February 1968. In her Scarborough years, working as hairstylist, mom to three boys, and close to her mother who followed her to Scarborough, Beryl’s life was filled with activity, conversation, laughter and love. She ensured the family’s home had a revolving front door allowing friends, neighbors and family in for babysitting, haircuts, lunches, laundry, sports practice and holiday dinners. Everyone was welcomed. Beryl camped and cottaged on Lake Kashagawigamog with family and friends from the mid-1970s until retiring to Haliburton in 1996. In Haliburton, Beryl was an active community member, avid golfer and curler and enthusiastic volunteer with the Haliburton Curling Club. Beryl also volunteered at Extendicare-Haliburton where her mother resided in her final years and at the Haliburton Hospital Auxiliary gift shop.
Beryl and Brian married in 2015 and together they continued to enjoy golfing, curling, and vacationing with friends in Hilton Head and the Dominican Republic during Haliburton winters. Beryl was loved dearly and is greatly missed.
