MURPHY, Mary Betty Murphy (née Stalmach)
April 20, 1936 - July 10, 2025
Betty, born on April 20, 1936, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on July 10, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter John Murphy, on May 26, 2023.
Loving mother of Tim (Jeannie), Dennis (Paula), Rob (Julie), Patti (Jeff), and Allan (Christina). Cherished Grandma of Shane (Tina), Rian (Diane), Katie (Sergio), Kevin (Amanda), Colin, Alex, Derek, PJ, Sam (Erica), Joe (Rachel), Claire, Maggie (Enrique), Mack, and Ian. Beloved Great-grandma of Danielle, Scotty, Fay, Shay, and Logan. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Predeceased by her parents Louis and Mary Stalmach. Sister of the late Rudy (Dorsey), Louis (Miriam), and Robert, and survived by his wife Mary Stalmach. Betty is also survived by her brother-in-law Michael, sisters-in-law Ann and Gerri, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Freeman and Tiffany Gowanlock from the Palliative Care Team, Juliette from SE Health, the staff and friends at Oak Park Terrace, and her dear companions, the “Golden Girls”.
Betty dedicated over 20 years of her professional life as an executive secretary at Sears in Windsor, where she was known for her exceptional organizational skills and warm demeanor. In retirement, she explored the world with Peter and her children, grandchildren, and closest family members. She remained active by nurturing her backyard garden, attending WD Lowe Alumni Group meetings, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and Knights of Columbus, and participating in her beloved book club.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada – Windsor-Essex Chapter or The Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
