Passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home.

Born on February 14, 1946, Henry’s life began and was shaped in Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation, the place he always called home.
He lived a life defined by love, humility, and quiet strength, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend whose presence brought comfort, wisdom and joy to all who knew him.

Henry is survived by his darling Elaine,
and their children Yvonne, Bev (Max), Irene (Delano),
Pam (Johnny), Colleen (Scott), Rachel (John),
Andrew (Robin), Stephen (Cheryl) and Aaron.
He is predeceased by his son Daniel.

Henry’s family was the centre of his life, and he took immense pride in each of them.
He leaves behind 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren,
who brought him immeasurable joy and were a constant source of love and pride.
Reunited with his boy, Jonah.

Henry was predeceased by his parents Sarah and David Nahwegahbo.

He is survived by his siblings Barbara and Joe
and predeceased by siblings Margaret, Charlie, Loretta, Dorothy and Ken.

His connection to family and his roots in Aundeck Omni Kaning remained a guiding force throughout his life.

Known affectionately as “Doc,” Henry was admired for his kindness, compassion and quiet wisdom. He enjoyed bingo, playing cribbage and euchre and spending time with his family. Professionally, he was a master bricklayer, maintenance manager and AOK Fire Chief, he served as an Ontario First Nation Fire Services Consultant and was highly skilled in construction and drafting. Henry also loved singing gospel songs and sharing his faith, spreading his love of God to everyone he met.

A Gathering will be held at the 4 Directions Complex
in Aundeck Omni Kaning
at 12:00 pm on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am
on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
with interment in the AOK Cemetery.

Henry “Doc” Nahwegahbow will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to inspire all who knew him.  Among his many friends, Henry will be especially remembered by his bingo companions, who shared in his signature calls of “safe” and “false alarm.”
