NANCHIN, David John Nanchin
December 10, 2025
The family of David are heartbroken to announce his unexpected passing on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the age of 73, while recovering at the Sault Area Hospital from a recent stroke, leaving behind the love of his family, and a legacy of kindness, devotion and quiet strength.
Born in Sault Ste. Marie and raised in Goulais River, David built a life grounded in family, hard work and appreciation for the simple pleasures. He was a devoted husband, loving father and friend, known to all who met him for his gentle presence, calm nature, warm smile and unwaveringly positive outlook that left a lasting impression. David lived with a deep love for those around him, offering steadiness, patience and care in everything he did.
Family was always Davidβs greatest priority. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Nanchin (Hook) and his children: Tiffany Nanchin, David Nanchin Jr. (Stephanie) and Scott Bain. Cherished brother to his siblings: late George Karalash (late Caroline), late Jim Karalash (Gail), Shirley Pigeon (Harold), late Linda Madsen, Randy Nanchin and John Karalash (Verna). Predeceased by his parents Lena Karalash and John Nanchin. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity.
David found joy in lifeβs everyday moments, spending time with family, watching NASCAR and his love of tinkering with cars extended into his lifeβs work. David was a licensed class A Mechanic with his interprovincial certification and the owner/operator of Daveβs Garage, a role he carried out with pride, honesty and integrity. The way he chose to spend his time were reflections of who he was: curious, thoughtful and happiest sharing time with the people he loved most.
Those who knew David will remember not only what he did, but how he made people feel: supported, valued and cared for. Davidβs life reminds us that it isnβt the grand gestures that leave the deepest mark, but the quiet meaningful footprints of love, kindness and consistency he left on the hearts of his family and all who walked alongside him in the steady love he gave so freely. David will be deeply missed for all the ways he loved fully and without condition.
A private family service has taken place. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Complex Continuing Care Fund (Rehab) would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
