NEMETH, Kathleen”Katie” Nemeth
April 19, 1926 - March 1, 2026
She passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Mississauga, Ontario, at the age of 99, just shy of her 100th birthday.
Katie was born on April 19, 1926, in Čurug, Yugoslavia. In 1952, she immigrated to Canada, settling in West Lorne, where she worked hard, raised her family, and became a valued member of the community. West Lorne remained close to her heart even after moving to Mississauga in her later years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Nemeth (2009), and her son, Ernest Nemeth (2009).
Katie will be lovingly remembered by her son Ronald Nemeth and his wife Brenda; her daughter-in-law Dorothy Nemeth; her grandchildren Tracee Fisher (Jason), Andrea Grieve (Sean), Daniel Nemeth, and Samantha Nemeth Ramos (Lorenzo); and her great-grandchildren Henry, Elliott, Rebecca, Cara, Serafina, and Levi.
Katie was a strong, resilient woman who built a life of meaning through simple pleasures. She enjoyed designing and sewing her own clothes and took great pride in her garden of flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. She shared her love of food (especially her sweet tooth) with family and friends, and her recipes earned recognition both locally and in the newspaper. Her near century among us leaves a legacy of quiet generosity, perseverance, and the reminder that life is not what you are given, but what you make of it.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 6 at 10:30 am – 12:30 pm at Arn Funeral Home, 212 Furnival Rd, Rodney, ON N0L 2C0 (519) 785-0810. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 128 Main St, West Lorne, ON N0L 2P0.
While Katie loved flowers, she wished that any gestures be made as donations to a charity of your choice.
