Adored grandmother of Pamela Jensen, Laurie Tighe (pre-deceased) and Lynette Tighe (Justin), Rachel (Nathan), Zachary and loving great-grandmother to Aiden and Asa.
Predeceased by her dear sister Betty Jones (Tom) and brother Jim Watt. Barbie will be forever missed by her brother Robert Watt (Nancy).
She will also be dearly missed by her dedicated and loving niece Susan Freeman (Doug), niece Erica St. Pierre (Jason), nephew Rennie Watt (Tracey), her grand nieces Nicole, Natalie, Robin, Kaia and grand nephew Ryker. She will be truly missed by her close Girls’ Club friends Vera and Carol, as well as the extended Tighe family.
Barb loved her many summers spent at Rice Lake and cherished her many winters spent in Sarasota Florida with Ken. She had a deep love of animals, especially flamingos and the family will remember her as the playful animal whisperer by the way she would speak to dogs, cats, rabbits, and chipmunks. She had a special place in her heart for Oliver, the Freeman family’s Golden Retriever.
Barb was a respected lifelong member of the Bowmanville community and was a long-time employee of EDS. She had a smile for everyone and always maintained a positive outlook despite facing many tragic life challenges. She was an avid listener and trusted confidante to many. Approaching life with an open-mind, she was an avid conversationalist, always up to date with current events and eager to learn new things.
A sincere “Thank you!” to the staff at Bowmanville Hospital for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will take place October 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home in Bowmanville. Barb loved bright colours. To honour her memory, her family invites you to wear something colourful to celebrate her life.
Donations in Barb’s memory may be made to Operation Smile or Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children
