David Andrew Noble passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the General Hospital in Ottawa, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in London, UK, and beloved son of John Gourlay and Ethna Noble, Dave’s life was marked by courage, intellect, humour, and devotion to family and service. A proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after a distinguished engineering career that took him across Canada and the world.
He was awarded the Order of Military Merit and served as Commanding Officer of 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, a role he held with deep pride. Following retirement, Dave continued to serve Canadians through public safety and emergency response leadership roles, where his vision and dedication left a lasting mark.
Dave is predeceased by his wife Jeannette (MacDonald) and survived by their children Evan (Natalie) and Katie, his wife Christina (Wegner), and their son Sean. He leaves behind grandchildren Olivia, Alex, Hannah, Ryan, Bennett, and Nathaniel, and siblings Paul (Elizabeth), John (Lyse), Bill (Barb), Bob (Roberta), and Alison (Evan).
Beyond service, Dave had a passion for photography, writing, coaching youth sports, and creating jewelry from fossils. A lifelong lover of dogs, birds, and science fiction, he recently completed his first novel. His intellect, humour, and energy inspired all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Road, Ottawa. Attendees are welcome to share remarks and memories. Dress code is business casual; maroon berets and medals are welcome. Please RSVP to admin@highlandparkcemetery.ca by August 28.
