NORTHCOTT, Cheryl Northcott

A resident of Chatham, Cheryl Northcott passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on May 7, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Petrolia, Cheryl was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Willa (nΓ©e McIntyre) Whiting. Beloved wife of 56 years to Earl. Loving mother to Stephanie (Jason) Loosemore of Alberta and Shawna (Shane) Glendinning of Tillsonburg. Cherished Nanny to Jai-Lynn Loosemore (Evan McBride), Alex Loosemore, Drew Loosemore (Melissa Cahill), Paige and Douglas Glendinning. Great-Nanny to Julia Loosemore.

Sister to Richard Whiting of Vancouver Island and Stacey Martin (Bruce Dilling) of Sarnia. Survived by Murray and Bette Northcott, and Karen Northcott. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by Hazel (Bill) Evoy, Phyllis Daugherty (John Tunstall), Donald (Abbie) Northcott, Lois (Richard) Burrell, and Lloyd Northcott.

Cheryl’s imagination knew no bounds. She loved making homemade Christmas decorations ranging from ornaments and wreaths to singing holiday dΓ©cor. She was a caring soul and found her calling in health care, working as an aide. Cheryl sat at many bedsides holding hands, offering a listening ear, wiping away tears, or simply having a friendly chat. She was always kind, patient, loving, and compassionate to everyone. She brought light, laughter, and love to her workplace and became a role model to those she worked with.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chatham-Kent EMS and Fire for their quick response and the compassion shown during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the Emergency Room staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

In keeping with Cheryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of Cheryl to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
