NUNES, Francisco Nunes

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Francisco Nunes at the age of 95.

Francisco is pre-deceased by his loving wife Enoe Nunes.  He is survived by his children Paula, John, Frank (Maureen), and Walter.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Olivia (Dom), Sara (Johnathan), Jessica, Andrew (Kylee), Jesse, Mathew, and Katherine.

Proud Great-grandfather to Peter, Gabriel, Gabriella, Serena and Dante.

He was born in the small town of Atalhada in São Miguel ,  Azores . Francisco spent his early years tending pineapple greenhouses.  In 1964 he immigrated to Canada with his wife and four children . They settled on Bartlett Avenue, where he quickly became known as a friendly and hospitable neighbor. Francisco always had a smile for everyone . He treasured the time with his family and friends .  Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family at the kitchen table sharing a delicious meal together.

He was famous for crafting the most delicious homemade wine and for growing the biggest, sweetest tomatoes on the block. Working the land was his lifelong passion, and his love for animals was ever-present—there was always a loyal dog or cat by his side.

Francisco will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched,  especially his loving family members and lifelong friends in Toronto and Sao Miguel, Azores. Just as he nurtured every garden he touched, Francisco planted the roots that have helped his family grow and flourish today.

The family wish to thank the staff at O’Neill Centre for their excellent care and compassionate support.  A special thank you to all the staff on the 3rd floor , for their warmth , patience and kindness.
