OLIVER, Ronald Louie Oliver

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Oliver, affectionately known to so many as “Louie”. Born and raised in Grimsby, Ron spent most of his life there, where he built a reputation not only as a skilled spring mechanic – fondly nicknamed the “singing spring man” – but as someone who could always make people laugh and feel at ease.

Ron was the kind of man who would drop everything to help someone in need, whether it was fixing a car, lending a hand, or stopping on the side of the road for a stranger. If he wasn’t able to help you himself, he always “knew a guy” who could. He had an incredible sense of humor, a big heart, and a gift for storytelling. He loved spending time up north at the hunt camp, tinkering with cars, and sharing laughs with friends and family. But above all, Ron treasured his family. He adored his wife Debbie, the love of his life, and was a devoted father to his daughter Alissa (Kevin) and to his late son David. Ron’s greatest joy was being a grandpa to his grandchildren – Brooklyn, Logan, Laikyn, and Liam – who were his pride and delight. Though he will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing he is now reunited with David, who was his best buddy.

He also leaves behind his siblings Donald, Gordy, Pam, and Lisa, and will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews who will miss their “Uncle Ron”. Ron was predeceased by his cherished son David, his parents Dorothy and Gordon, and his siblings Vicky and Kenny.

Those who knew Ron will remember his quick wit, his kindness, and the way he could brighten any room. His stories, his laughter, and his unwavering love for his family will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Dad- A son’s first hero, a daughter’s first love.

Debbie and Alissa would like to thank the staff and volunteers at McNally House for going above and beyond the gold standard of support and compassion. In lieu of flowers and cards, they ask that donations be made to McNally House in memory of Ron.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the Grimsby Legion, 233 Elizabeth Street, Grimsby. on Saturday, September 20th from 3pm-7pm.
