It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael George Herbert Ormonde on March 29, 2025, at the age of 70, in Oshawa, Ontario. Michael passed peacefully with his children Joanne and Jeffrey by his side. His warmth, humour, and gentle spirit will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael is deeply missed by his daughter Joanne Gordon, her husband Brendan, and his grandson Banks; and by his son Jeffrey Ormonde and his fiancée Ashley Pope and her daughter Alannah Pope. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Lynda Douse.

A man of quiet passions and deep connections, Michael had a lifelong love of cars—especially model cars, of which he built an impressive collection. He was proud of his career and the friendships he nurtured along the way. At home in Ajax, he cherished his neighbours, always ready for a chat or to share his latest homemade baked goods. Michael also had a green thumb, delighting in the beauty of his garden year after year.

In keeping with Michael’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held. A celebration of life will follow at a later date, where friends and family will come together to share memories and honour a life lived with love, laughter, and grace.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
