OWEN, Phyllis Jane (Pritchard) Owen

November 15, 1935 - June 20, 2025
OWEN, Phyllis Jane (Pritchard) Owen

Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at Butternut Manor, Uxbridge on Friday June 20, 2025 at the age of 89 years.  Wife of the late David Owen.  Loved and remembered by her children Kris Cummins (Gordon), Kim Everson (late Bill), Scott (Marie) and Kelly McKinzey (Gord). Cherished Nana of Larry Owen (Jessica), Chris Cummins (Jessica), Emily Everson, Erin Buddo (Jay), Jennifer Black (Gerry), Charlene Everson and her late twin brother Ben Everson, and Blair McKinzey (Meaghan).  Also remembered by her 10 great grandchildren.

Mom and Dad had 4 children who were her pride and joy.  She was a wonderful grandmother who always made time for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom was loved deeply by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends; some friendships having spanned a lifetime.

Mom volunteered throughout her life including many years as a Girl Guide Leader.  She was a member of the Markham Fair Board and assisted at the Uxbridge Thrift Shop.   In addition to being an avid reader, she loved crossword puzzles, playing cards and knitting.  Mom also loved to travel.  She and dad had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Canada, the US and the Caribbean.  Later in life, she was able to travel with family and friends to Italy, Australia, New Orleans and Barbados.  But one of mom’s most favorite things to do was spend summers at the cottage, take dips in the lake, enjoy time with family and friends around the bonfire and just sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee or a good glass of white wine (with ice of course)!

Mom will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew her.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South on Wednesday July 9, 2025 from 1 – 4 PM with memories being shared at 2:00 PM. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to Community Care, Durham would be appreciated by the family.  Friends are invited to express condolences or make donations by visiting www.lowandlow.ca.
