PALMER, Michelle Nadine (Shelley) Palmer – Obituary

Palmer MichellePALMER, Michelle Nadine ‘Shelley’ – After a short illness, passed into the arms of our Lord, on October 7, 2015 at the St. Marys Memorial Hospital with family and support staff by her side.

Loving daughter of the late Dave and Loreen Palmer. Special sister to Lynelle Purdy, Kitchener, David and wife Elizabeth, Nepean and Cheryl and husband Scott, St. Catharines. Aunt to Heather and Jeff Purdy, Luke and Amanda Palmer, David Tyndall and wife Katherine and Robert Tyndall and wife Jessica. Great Aunt to Merryn, Alexis and Claire.

Shelley was born in Stratford, with St. Marys her home since 1960. In her younger years, Shelley enjoyed singing, embroidering, baking, attending Junior B hockey games, camping, playing cards and working at the St. Marys Workshop with friends.

After a debilitating stroke in 1979, Shelley with her amazing support team continued to enjoy events around the town, listening to music, the companionship of her dogs Lucy and Molly, and the simpler moments of life like a good ice cream cone and the company of good friends. Shelley’s life is a testament to the power of determination. Shelley overcame many trials throughout her 63 years and through example taught those around her that life is always better when you looked for the positive side of any situation. We will all cherish the amazing life lessons she taught us in her own unique way, with the greatest of these “loving unconditionally. “ Thank you Shelley for blessing our lives. Our Lord will surely say, “Well done my kind and faithful servant, well done. ”

Shelley’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the St. Marys Association for Community Living. There will never be enough words of thanks and praise to the support staff that cared for Shelley, allowing her dignity and an active life in the community. A special Thank you to Tamie and family for embracing Shelley as part of your family; a rare and special gift of love we will always cherish. Dr. Gatfield, thank you for your amazing compassion and care of Shelley. You were wonderful. We wish to express our gratitude to the many nurses at St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital for your care during this very trying time.

Thank you Shelley, we will never forget how much you meant to each of us, “No Way, No Way, No Way!”
