PATON, Wayne Paton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Wayne” Paton on December 13, 2025, at the age of 83. Wayne was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (O’Neill) and cherished father of Bonnie Jane and David McLinchey, and the late Jeffrey Wayne Paton (2021). He was a proud grandfather to Stephen (Andrea) McLinchey, Brian McLinchey (Shayna Kelders), Chelsey McLinchey (Matt Martin), Michael Paton, and Cory Paton, and a loving great-grandfather to Brooklyn, Ava, Brody, Cole McLinchey, Riley, McKenna, and Jack Martin.

Wayne was the son of the late Cecil and Elsie (Smith) Paton and dear brother of Dennis Paton (Esther Mawson). He was predeceased by brothers-in-law Clarence (Isabel) O’Neill, and William O’Neill, and sister-in-law Sylvia Paton, and is survived by sister-in-law Dorothy O’Neill. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Wayne devoted over 60 years to the family business, working alongside his parents at the gas station before becoming partners with his brother Dennis in 1971. His dedication and hard work were a cornerstone of his life. Outside of work, Wayne had a passion for the water, spending countless years enjoying Lake Huron and the beaches of Florida. He loved boating, snowmobiling, hockey, and playing cards, but above all, his greatest joy was his family—his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to him.

Wayne’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at the Parkhill Community Centre on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. A lunch reception catered by Dennings will follow.
