WALKER, Patricia (Blake) Walker – Obituary

WALKER, Patricia (nee Blake) —   March 9, 1928 – October 7, 2015

Mom leaves her husband of 60 years, Ken to mourn her passing.

Dad always said that he knew no better person than Mom and that she was the best mother we could have had.

Her children and their spouses (whom she loved as if they were her own); Cory and Norm (Cameron and Emily) Craig and Genesta (Melissa, Ryan and Andrew), Susan and Robb (Liam and Danyon) agree wholeheartedly with Ken. She loved her family, her garden, her books and every manner of animal that was lucky enough to be her pet, or that crossed her path.

She enjoyed reading, a good snuggle, a cozy blanket, cold coffee, cold buttered toast, crisp bacon, a beautiful tree, every sunrise/sunset she witnessed, deep conversations and her dear friends. Our mother was a kind and gentle person who laughed easily, cared deeply and listened with compassion and understanding. She loved well, was well loved and left no kind word or loving thought unsaid.

Mom was very proud to have worked as stewardess for Ward Air, but it was her time at Princess Margaret Hospital, where she worked as the head nurse for the PMH Lodge for 25 years and the professional and personal relationships that she nurtured there that gave her the most satisfaction.

While her passing is a very sad occasion, we take comfort in knowing that her life was full of love and well lived. Her faith gave her great comfort and peace.

There will be a celebration of her life for family and friends at St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church on Bayview Ave. in November.
