McCARTAN, Patrick “Liam”   –  Passed away peacefully, at Dorothy Ley Hospice, Toronto, on October 15, 2023, at the age of 79.

Beloved husband of Marie (née Rogers).

Deeply regretted by his brother, Dan; many relatives and dear friends.

Predeceased by his brother, Michael; and sisters, Mary and Anne.

Liam was a wonderful, soft-spoken gentleman with a kind and gentle nature who enjoyed spending time with his love, Marie, whom he adored.

Liam was born in County Down, Ireland, and was a passionate athlete who played Gaelic football for County Down GAA Minor Team.

After immigrating to Canada in 1966, Liam became an integral part of the Toronto Irish community, where he played Gaelic football with Clan na Gael.

Many will remember him tending bar at the Man of Aran. He had a distinguished career with the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto.

Liam will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will take place at Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 480 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke, on Saturday, November 4th, at 11 a.m.

A Celebration of Liam’s Life will follow at The Galway Arms, 838 The Queensway, Etobicoke.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dorothy Ley Hospice, 220 Sherway Drive, Etobicoke.
