STAVRO, Pauline Stavro
STAVRO, Pauline – It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Pauline Stavro.
Born Palikseni Vasileff in Strebreno, Macedonia, on August 16, 1928, passed away on October 15, 2023.
Pauline leaves us to join her husband, Chris Stavro, of 69 years, leaving our family with a lifetime of cherished memories to ease our loss.
Survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Dennis), and Valerie (Stephen); and predeceased by son, Tom (and Janie).
The proud grandmother to Annastassia, Nicholas, Paula (Brian), Nicole (Matthew), Christopher (Ailish), Nicholas, Thomas (Nicole), Douglas (Kirsten), and Emily.
The loving great-grandmother to Evelyn, Ashton, Callum, Aiden, Parker and Alexander.
She gathered the family on every special holiday, hosting lamb BBQs, weddings, political campaigns and meetings, graduation and birthday parties, and saints days – all with finesse and never a complaint.
However, beyond her culinary and family accomplishments was her leadership and dedication to the church, her children’s schools, and Michael Garron Hospital, as parishioner, bazaar treasurer, Home and School President, volunteer, often using her business and accounting skills learned at Eastern Commerce.
Special thanks to our “Angel,” Berlie Salinas-Locquaio, mom’s personal caregiver over the past six years, words cannot express our appreciation for her love, care, and devotion. In mom’s eyes she was her #1. Thanks also to Fieldstone Commons for looking after mom the past two years.
Visitation will take place at Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with Services of Remembrance at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Mom’s ashes will be laid to rest in a private graveside service.
Donations in mom’s memory would be gratefully received by St. George’s Macedonian Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church, 17 Regent St., Toronto M5A 3N4.
